In this 17th monthly update, a further 59 holdings have been added covering an additional 40,725 acres. The percentage of records current to within one year has increased from 57.4 % in September 2022 to 99.9%. The percentage of records with a currency of over five years has fallen from 36.5% in September 2022 to 0.07%. There are only 2 records that are not now current to within one year. They are (still) taking a little while to update due to complexities. Please also note that I have recalculated the figure used for the extent of rural Scotland. Previously I was using a figure of 18,924,516 ha (7,658,647 ha) which I have been using for many years. Recalculating this figure from OS MHWS data and NRS Settllement data gives a figure of 19,033,295 acres (7,702,669 ha). This is a large figure and thus the percentage coverage has dropped even whilst I have increased the coverage by 40,725 acres. I may further review this figure to use Mean Low Water Springs as the foreshore can and is owned by public and private interests.
